IEEE International workshop on Metaverse-based Sensing, Computing, and Networking (MetaSCN)

in conjunction with MSN 2023, Nanjing, China on 14 - 16 Dec. 2023

Call for Papers

As an emerging concept, Metaverse denotes "beyond the universe": a series of AR, VR, and Internet aggregations to form a virtual space that operates in parallel to the real world, which has attracted extensive attention from both academia and industry in recent years. Metaverse aspires to provide seamless and real-time digital experiences to geographically distributed users by merging the physical and digital worlds, enabling them to participate in various real-time activities together in completely different and distant worlds. Technically, this relies on pervasive perception sensors, network access, and approximate computing to create virtual environments. This workshop provides a forum for academic researchers and industry practitioners to exchange the most recent progress in methods and applications in Metaverse.

The workshop solicits submissions from areas relating to Sensing, Computing and Networking algorithms/approaches to solve problems in Meatverse. The interested topics include but not limited to:

  • Integrated sensing, communication, and computing for Metaverse
  • Metaverse-based architectures/transmission protocols design
  • Security and privacy issues for Metaverse
  • Edge computing/intelligence for Metaverse
  • Proximate computation offloading techniques for Metaverse
  • Latency reduction techniques for Metaverse applications
  • Resource orchestration/allocation in Metaverse
  • Distributed microservices deployment models for the heterogeneous compute nodes in Metaverse

Submitted papers must be written in the English language, according to IEEE Computer Society Proceedings Format (double column, 10pt font, letter paper) and submitted in PDF file format. Use the standard IEEE Transactions templates for Microsoft Word or LaTeX formats found at: https://www.ieee.org/conferences/publishing/templates.html. The manuscript (including figures, tables, appendices, references) should be no longer than 6 pages and at least 4 pages. Submitted manuscripts must not contain previously published material or be under consideration for publication in another conference or journal. Accepted papers will be included in the conference proceedings and published in the IEEE Xplore digital library (indexed by EI). At least one author of any accepted paper must register and present the paper at the conference.
